I once fought the Spirit Lord of Fire and Ice in Purgatory. That was a while back. More recently, I encountered the Spirit Lord of Ice, who was something of a difficult character.

So you've hunted them.

I didn't hunt them so much as they picked a fight. I didn't kill either of them.

Is there a reason they took issue with you?

The Spirit Lord of Ice was just arrogant. The prison master of Purgatory, though . . . You could say that we were on opposing sides.

[shaft]

Have you been fighting for 600 years? Sounds exhausting.

[ercnerd]

I don't fight every day. If I did, I would've died from exhaustion in the first year. It's just when monsters and other troublesome entities get in my way.

[shaft]

That still seems like a very long time.

[ Sighs. ]

I've been alive only 23 years and I'm tired of it.

[ercnerd]

Oh? Are you still embroiled in a war back home?

[shaft]

Yeah, right on the losing end of it as well. It's exhausting.

War is exhausting whether you're winning or losing. It's always longer than it needs to be.
