The flowers are beautiful, aren't they?

[ she gives him a smile! and once again will approach so he doesn't have to limp very far. poor injured. ]

Mm-hm. I think this may be the most relaxing place on campus, so far.

[ercnerd]

[Sweet girl.]

It's a little cold for my taste, but I agree. Is that why you're here?

[illuminance]

The cold can be refreshing! As long as you're careful to warm up, periodically.

[ hmm, she considers? ]

I think it's important that familiarize ourselves with all parts of this campus. But I will concede that I am mostly here because it's a nice view.

[ercnerd]

You're so thorough, Luxanna. It's good that you're taking time to yourself.

[He pats her on the head with his splinted hand, because his good hand is holding a sword.]

[ headpats... ]

... I'm not a child. You don't need to praise me like one.

[ercnerd]

. . . Haha.

[He lifts his hand, inspects it for a moment, and lowers it to his side.]

I praise everyone the same. Don't worry—it wasn't a slight against you.

... Ah. You are one of the ones here who is much older than they appear, so I suppose everyone must seem like a child to you.

[ercnerd]

Mm, that's true.

Actually, I have a descendant who's the same age as you.

[illuminance]

Really? Tell me about them.

[ercnerd]

Her name's Elesis. Officially, she's the head of the Ruby Knights that protect Kanavan independent of the Royal Knights. She's got no faults when it comes to her leadership and swordsmanship, but she's a hothead who gets lost all the time.

[illuminance]

Sounds impressive. Especially if she can set aside her flaws to be a proper leader!

[ercnerd]

She takes her role seriously. But she can be too stiff most times. It'd be good if she could learn to crack jokes like you . . .

[illuminance]

I take my work very seriously too, you know?

[ercnerd]

I know you do. Unlike Elesis, though, you have a sense of humor.

[illuminance]

We have to provide light however we can, after all!

[ercnerd]

Right, right! People are more at ease when you lighten the mood. That's how it goes!

[illuminance]

It isn't just a matter of relaxation. Without light, people lose their drive to carry on at all.

[ercnerd]

The principle's the same. Someone who's stiff can lose the trust of their companions over a minor incident. You can't instill drive in others if they have doubts about your character.

[illuminance]

... And yet - as much as I enjoy the praise, I think there are some groups this is not as effective with. Some consider it childish.

[ercnerd]

That just means they're the stiff ones.

[illuminance]

Maybe so. I think that there is need for that type, too.

[ercnerd]

Do you? . . . I suppose it'd be dull if everyone were the same.

[illuminance]

Exactly. Everyone has their own light to shine.

The light must mean a great deal to you.
