...not just yet, I think. Whether what they're promising is true or not, the competition itself is-- innocuous enough so far.

I don't like it as much as you. A lot can also happen in a year. Until something big happens, we'll just have to keep our eyes out.

Now I'm curious. Which task would you choose for Dorm Wars?

[she's quiet, but just for a moment-- evidently she's already given it some thought.]

Either Hope or Love, but-- I think love would come first.

Those aren't bad choices. I'd also choose Hope.

Would you? I'd wondered whether someone in your... particular line of work might be more inclined toward choosing Strength, instead.

[but she looks pleased at that answer, actually.]

Strength by itself doesn't mean much. No one will call you a hero for just swinging your sword around. If you slay monsters for their safety, though, they'll recognize you forever.

If ensuring their safety earned you no recognition, would you still do it?

I've never done it for recognition. I just wanted to fight strong monsters, and keeping the Kingdom safe was reason enough to make a living out of it.

That's... understandable enough reasoning.

[maybe somewhat familiar reasoning, and it gets a faint smile in return.]

Do you think you're ever going to run out of monsters, or is it a more constant threat than that>

Monsters will threaten everyone as long as there are demons in our world. The only way we'll run out is by eradicating the demons.

[my question mark in that last tag OOPS... but that's enough to shift her own expression to something more concerned, as well.]

So they aren't the true threat, but a result of it? How difficult are these-- demons of yours to handle?

[demonic entities aren't really tied to monster presence that she's ever been aware of, but it's clear that plenty of other places work-- very differently from most worlds she's known.]

They're an annoying bunch that keeps on growing.

[And even if monsters aren't the true threat, they continue to harm life on Aernas.]

They're immortal, so if you let them be they'll just get worse.
