[Clad slovenly in his dorm color, Sieghart is on a mission: to make s'mores (or something like it). He's stolen a bite out of a chocolate bar when he spots Kainé. He waves the stick in greeting.]

Yo! Are you here to snack, too?

[ By this time, she knows what a s'more is maybe. Time is difficult and fleeting and fake. She at least has a marshmallow on a stick.

She's going to engulf it in flame. ]

Something like that.

[He watches the marshmallow burn. And burn.]

Uh . . . are you sure you want to keep it in the fire that long?

[overshaded]

[ Once it catches fire, she takes it out and watches the marshmallow melt off. It's fine. ]

It wasn't that long.

[ercnerd]

[As long as she's not shoving it in her mouth while the marshmallow is still on fire, it's fine.

Sieghart follows suit.]

I haven't seen you around before. Are you from another dorm?

[overshaded]

[ She could and would but doesn't want to hear any protests. ]

Winter.

[ She lets the one marshmallow fall to its doom into the bonfire before getting another one.

She's nicer to this new marshmallow. ]

[Whoa. Ice hot.]

Spring.

Enjoying your classes?

[overshaded]

Meh. They're whatever.

[ She's only been to the coloring one. ]

[ercnerd]

I've only been to one, and I wasn't impressed.

[It was not the coloring one, which was probably for the best.]

I dunno if we're supposed to be impressed. I wanted to learn more from it, though.

[ But of course it wouldn't be that easy. ]

Are you serious? . . . Which classes did you attend?

[overshaded]

The art one.

[ercnerd]

What were you trying to learn from that?

If the teacher would talk more.

[ Than the dorm heads. ]

Did that one break into song, too?

What? No. Which one did you go to that—

[ She makes a hand gesture that obviously means break into song. ]

[ She makes a face. ]

I was warned against going to that class. Said I'd regret it. Do you?

[ercnerd]

Knowing what we do, do you think there's a class we wouldn't regret going to?

Don't know enough to say but probably not.

[He pauses. Well, he ought to give credit where it's due.]

But it won't hurt to attend if you're interested in the experience.

I like to see what's out there, but I don't like troublesome things—especially when they're forced on me.
